Il vous est certainement déjà arrivé d’observer les infrastructures imposantes d’une entreprise — la taille de ses bâtiments, le nombre de ses employés, le patrimoine de son propriétaire — et de penser que sa gestion administrative et humaine est à la hauteur de ce reflet coloré. C’est l’histoire de notre logiciel AttendProRH.
You have certainly observed the imposing infrastructure of a company—the size of its buildings, the number of its employees, the wealth of its owner—and assumed that its administrative and HR management matched this impressive image. This is the story of our software, AttendProRH.
1. La demande initiale | The Initial Request
Venus au départ pour le simple dépannage d’un lecteur F18, nous nous sommes retrouvés à panser le logiciel de gestion de temps d'une centaine d'employés. Les équipes RH nous l'assuraient : tout fonctionnait parfaitement avant notre intervention sur le lecteur.
Originally called in for a simple repair on an F18 reader, we ended up having to fix the time management software for a hundred employees. The HR team assured us that everything was working perfectly before our intervention on the reader.
2. Le doute s'installe | Doubt Sets In
À peine l'inspection du logiciel commencée, on nous apporte de nouvelles données à ajuster, ajouter ou modifier. Vient ensuite le moment de l'édition des rapports. Nous pensions qu'ils savaient utiliser l'outil ; on nous fait comprendre que c'était le travail d'une ancienne employée et qu'il faut montrer le fonctionnement à sa remplaçante.

Barely had we started inspecting the software when new data was brought to us to adjust, add, or modify. Then came the moment to generate reports. We assumed they knew how to use the tool; instead, we were told it was the work of a former employee and that we needed to train her replacement.
What followed was a flood of complex requests under the pressure of generating the current month's statements. My colleague then handed a blank sheet of paper to the HR department, asking them to clearly list the reports their software was supposed to produce. The offer was declined: according to them, if the software remained unchanged, it should produce the same reports as before.

Pour ne pas les bloquer, nous décidons de produire les relevés par le biais de notre logiciel encore en développement :
• Premier verdict : Les rapports PDF de notre logiciel, dont les détails sont incomparables avec ce que leur outil peut sortir, sont rejetés.
• Second verdict : Nous générons le rapport Excel issu de leur propre logiciel (de simples additions de données, incapables de préciser le jour d'absence d'un employé). Rejeté aussi.
• Premier verdict : Les rapports PDF de notre logiciel, dont les détails sont incomparables avec ce que leur outil peut sortir, sont rejetés.

To avoid blocking their workflow, we decided to generate the statements using our own software, which was still under development:
• First Verdict: The PDF reports from our software—far superior in detail compared to what their tool could output—were rejected.
• Second Verdict: We then generated the Excel report straight from their existing software (simple data additions, incapable of specifying an employee's exact day of absence). Rejected as well.

Sans détour, mon collègue leur demande de fournir un rapport d’antan. Le lendemain, le document arrive. Et là, nous tombons des nus.
Faute de savoir manipuler le logiciel, mais armée d'une motivation à toute épreuve pour tenir son rang, l'ancienne employée retranscrivait tout à la main sur Excel. Elle éditait elle-même chaque colonne, chaque ligne, chaque texte, sans aucune note de calcul. Un simple rapport basique, saisi manuellement. C'était ce document qui nous faisait passer pour des incompétents.

Unable to operate the software, but driven by sheer determination to maintain her role, the former employee had been retyping everything manually into Excel. She created every column, row, and text block by hand, without a single calculation formula. A basic, manually typed document. That was the report making us look incompetent.
